Evangelio según san Lucas 9, 51-62

Cuando se completaron los días en que iba a ser llevado al cielo, Jesús tomó la decisión de ir a Jerusalén. Y envió mensajeros delante de él.
Puestos en camino, entraron en una aldea de samaritanos para hacer los preparativos. Pero no lo recibieron, porque su aspecto era el de uno que caminaba hacia Jerusalén.
Al ver esto, Santiago y Juan, discípulos suyos, le dijeron:
«Señor, ¿quieres que digamos que baje fuego del cielo que acabe con ellos?».
Él se volvió y los regañó. Y se encaminaron hacia otra aldea. Mientras iban de camino, le dijo uno:
«Te seguiré adondequiera que vayas».
Jesús le respondió:
«Las zorras tienen madrigueras, y los pájaros del cielo nidos, pero el Hijo del hombre no tiene donde reclinar la cabeza».
A otro le dijo:
«Sígueme».
El respondió:
«Señor, déjame primero ir a enterrar a mi padre».
Le contestó:
«Deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos; tú vete a anunciar el reino de Dios».
Otro le dijo:
«Te seguiré, Señor. Pero déjame primero despedirme de los de mi casa».

And it came to pass, when the time had come that He should be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, and He sent messengers before His face. And they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for Him. But they did not receive Him, because His face was set as though He would go to Jerusalem. And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, wilt Thou that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did?” But He turned and rebuked them and said, “Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of Man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went to another village. And it came to pass that, as they went along the way, a certain man said unto Him, “Lord, I will follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest.” And Jesus said unto him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man hath nowhere to lay His head.” And He said unto another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.” Jesus said unto him, “Let the dead bury their dead, but go thou and preach the Kingdom of God.” And another also said, “Lord, I will follow Thee, but let me first go bid those farewell who are at home at my house.” And Jesus said unto him, “No man, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.”

Toen bijna de tijd gekomen was dat Jezus naar de hemel zou gaan, begon Hij in de richting van Jeruzalem te reizen. Hij stuurde boodschappers voor Zich uit om in een dorp in Samaria onderdak voor Hem te zoeken. Maar de mensen daar wilden Hem niet ontvangen, omdat Hij naar Jeruzalem reisde. Toen Jakobus en Johannes dat merkten, zeiden ze: «Heer, wilt U dat we net als de profeet Elia zeggen dat er vuur uit de hemel moet komen om hen te verbranden?» Maar Jezus draaide Zich naar hen om en zei: «Hoe kunnen jullie zoiets zeggen! De Mensenzoon is niet gekomen om mensen te doden, maar om mensen te redden.» En ze gingen naar een ander dorp. Terwijl ze onderweg waren, zei iemand tegen Jezus: «Ik zal U volgen, waar U ook heen gaat.» Jezus zei tegen hem: «Vossen hebben holen en vogels hebben nesten. Maar de Mensenzoon heeft geen plaats om te slapen.» Jezus zei tegen iemand anders: «Volg Mij.» Maar de man zei: «Mag ik dan wachten tot ik mijn vader heb begraven?» Maar Jezus zei: «Laten de doden hun doden maar begraven. Maar jij moet de mensen over het Koninkrijk van God gaan vertellen.» Weer iemand anders zei: «Ik zal U volgen, Heer, maar ik wil eerst afscheid nemen van mijn familie.» Maar Jezus zei tegen hem: «Mensen die bij het ploegen achterom kijken, zijn niet geschikt voor het Koninkrijk van God.»

Als die Zeit näher kam, dass Jesus wieder zu Gott zurückkehren sollte, brach er fest entschlossen nach Jerusalem auf. Unterwegs schickte er Boten voraus. Diese kamen in ein Dorf in Samarien und wollten dort für eine Unterkunft sorgen. Aber weil Jesus auf dem Weg nach Jerusalem war, weigerten sich die Bewohner, ihn aufzunehmen. Als seine Jünger Jakobus und Johannes das hörten, sagten sie: »Herr, das brauchst du dir doch nicht gefallen zu lassen! Sollen wir befehlen, dass Feuer vom Himmel fällt und sie vernichtet, so wie es damals bei Elia war?« Jesus drehte sich zu ihnen um und wies sie scharf zurecht. Dann gingen sie in ein anderes Dorf. Während Jesus mit seinen Jüngern unterwegs war, wurde er von einem Mann angesprochen: »Ich will mit dir gehen, ganz gleich wohin.« Jesus antwortete ihm: »Die Füchse haben ihren Bau und die Vögel ihre Nester; aber der Menschensohn hat keinen Platz, an dem er sich ausruhen kann.« Einen anderen forderte Jesus auf: »Komm, folge mir nach!« Er erwiderte: »Ja, Herr, aber vorher lass mich noch nach Hause gehen und meinen Vater bestatten.« Da antwortete Jesus: »Überlass es den Toten, ihre Toten zu begraben. Du aber sollst dich auf den Weg machen und die Botschaft von Gottes Reich verkünden.« Wieder ein anderer sagte zu Jesus: »Ich will mit dir kommen, Herr. Erlaube mir aber, mich vorher noch von meiner Familie zu verabschieden.« Ihm antwortete Jesus: »Wer beim Pflügen nach hinten schaut, den kann Gott in seinem Reich nicht brauchen.«
